Every year, there’s a special kind of magic that settles over the fields when our unicorn sessions return—and this year, that magic was bigger and brighter than ever before. ✨ Especially with Unicorn Sessions in Bowmanville, Ontario

We just wrapped up our third annual Unicorn Portrait Sessions, and I honestly can’t put into words how incredible it was to watch these moments unfold behind the lens. From the very first family to the last little unicorn dreamer, this year was filled with laughter, joy, and a sense of wonder that only childhood can bring.

At the heart of it all is Dougie, our gentle, flower-crowned unicorn, who once again stole hearts and created memories that will last a lifetime. Seeing children run up to him with wide eyes, outstretched arms, and total awe never gets old. Some kids were bursting with excitement, others a bit shy at first, but every single one left with a sparkle in their eye and a story to tell.

🌸 A Record-Breaking Year

This year was particularly special because we reached a milestone—12 wonderful families joined us, making this our biggest unicorn session yet! Every single family brought such love and energy to their shoot, and I could feel how much these moments meant to them. Whether it was a birthday celebration, a milestone memory, or just a day to soak in the magic of childhood, each session told its own beautiful story.

☀️ Perfect Weather, Perfect Light

As a photographer, I always keep one eye on the weather leading up to sessions—but this year, we truly lucked out. The skies were clear, the sun golden, and the light was absolute perfection the entire time. The grass was lush and green, the air warm but breezy—Mother Nature showed up for us, and it made every image glow with that dreamy, golden-hour magic.

📸 Picture-Perfect Smiles

Take a look through these portraits and you’ll see what I mean—every single child’s smile tells a story. A story of excitement, imagination, maybe even a little disbelief that they’re sitting on a real unicorn (Dougie will tell you he’s 100% real 😉). There’s something so pure and heartwarming about these moments—kids letting go of everything except their imaginations, and parents soaking in a fleeting moment of childhood whimsy.

I especially loved seeing siblings interact with Dougie and each other—whether they were sitting side-by-side in matching dresses, hugging their baby brother close on a cozy blanket, or gently laying across Dougie’s back in complete trust and comfort, the love between them was so genuine. These are the moments that make my heart burst as a photographer.

To all the families who trusted me to capture this magic—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your joy, your kids’ laughter, your willingness to lean into the whimsy and fantasy of it all—it’s what makes these sessions so special. Dougie may be the unicorn, but you bring the magic.

Each year, these sessions remind me why I do what I do. There’s something extraordinary about photographing children in moments of pure happiness. No filters, no posing—just real smiles, real connection, and a sprinkle of unicorn dust.

🌈 Looking Ahead to Next Year

I’m already dreaming up ideas for next year’s unicorn sessions—maybe more flowers, maybe a few surprises, but always that same feeling of wonder and joy. I truly can’t wait to welcome new and returning families back for another round of magic with Dougie.
