How to style your maternity session: Tips from your local Photographer

I’m assuming that you are pregnant or planning to be. How exciting. With everything that you have to think about as a mom-to-be, I want to make sure that your maternity session should be the least of your worries!
Today we will cover some of the more popular options for maternity sessions. One of the most popular options. And that is the tulle robe gown. I currently have this gown in 4 amazing colours, and I adore how fabulous all my moms are to be felt in these. I have green, beige, blue and pink. Typically the blue and pink are the most popular to celebrate what you are having, but the tan is the best for those who are keeping the gender a surprise. These types of gowns are also perfect, for all body types. It is one size and just ties in the front to make it easy and comfortable for all who choose it
In-studio maternity session
Another super popular ‘gown’ is our body suit. Not only does this pair well with our robes, but it also has amazing stretch to fit all beautiful body sizes. This bedazzle bodysuit is the perfect piece for those moms hat want glam but not too much. Typically I only use this gown in the studio as it can be hard to get into for outdoor sessions. This body suit also looks amazing on all skins.
One of my favourite gowns in the studio and the most popular choice in 2024 is this full-length bedazzle gown. I love to call her the Kardashian gown because of how magnificent it is. This gown looks stunning on any mom and any size. It is form fitting and if you truly want to stand out, this is a great start. It is made from amazing material which gives it a comfortable fit for anyone that wears it.
Another hugely popular accessory is the full-length angel wings. These stunning wings are made of Ostrich feathers and are so fluffy and amazing to have. These make you feel like you are on the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. I love angel wings for maternity sessions because it gives you an ethereal feeling that reminds me much of what motherhood is. Now these wings are for everyone, but most of my clients love to feel special and unique when they wear them. I own 3 pairs of adult angel wings in pink, white and grey. I also have 2 children pairs in white and pink and 1 toddler pair in white. The angel wings pair best with the rompers and more form-fitting gowns.

With maternity, it is my job to make your dreams come true. With that being said I always suggest that clients should try to have professional hair and makeup done. Going full glam will never be a mistake for your maternity portraits.

It will also be during this time we will go over what you are or aren’t comfortable with. Some moms love the idea of photographer more covered up and others love the idea of going more nude for some of their sessions to truly capture your pregnancy as a whole. I truly strive for my clients to be comfortable 100% of the session.
