Fun fall activities in Durham Region

It’s almost that time of year! The crisp weather, colourful leaves and the pumpkin.. everything. I wanted to share some ideas I had for fun fall activities in Durham Region (Apart from one, so don’t hate me for the slightly further drive)

Pumpkin/apple Patch Picking:

This is one of my favourite fall pastimes to do with my family! We love being able to find unique pumpkins to carve and decorate the house, such as getting the best apples for pies, sauce making or just enjoying as a snack. The best part? Our chickens love pumpkins when they’re ready to be retired for the season. There are so many amazing local farms, so make sure that you take the time to research ones close to you; I do mention some below if you need somewhere to start.

Going for a nice walk/hike

If you know me and my family, we LOVE being outdoors. Hiking is one of our favourite pastimes. I wanted to name a few places that we love to hike to apart from visiting provincial parks (Which I also recommend that you look up because there are so many that have gorgeous views and you can purchase day passes.)
What is better than going for a long hike, with your littles or furry babies, than doing that during the most colourful time of the year? With the crisp weather, good hot cocoa and company this is one of my favourite things to do. Here are some local suggestions that we’ve tried and loved in no order.

Enniskillen Conservation (Hampton)These are only a few of the most amazing views and don’t require a long trek that will leave you exhausted.

Fall Festivals or local farms

These can be very intimidating; especially if you are bringing kiddos, but as a momma of two littles, just do the darn thing! Go, even for 30 minutes and see what you can enjoy with the kids. A few fall festivals that are coming up in the next few weeks are below. Remember; you don’t need to plan this with the family, feel free to make a girls’ day out of it too. Get out of the house, and your same routine and try something new!

Cooper Farm Maze

This is one that I haven’t personally tried, but it on on the list to do this year. A massive corn maze with farm animals and so much to do. This is going to be such a fun activity for my kiddos (4 and 9). This farm has 10 acres corn maze, storefront and farm animals to enjoy as well! I’ll add the details down below, but I highly suggest giving them a visit and like their page for more events coming up. Keep in mind, this is a bit of a drive as they’re located near Uxbridge Ontario but i suggest it for a great family day outing!

Horse Back riding

This is another one that I have never done, but fully intend to do this fall season. I’ve always wanted to just take a nice horseback ride through the fall leaves with friends or family. This would be more of a date night or girl’s night out kind of thing. I highly recommend it and if I do get a chance to do this with some of my girls I will update you on where to go and what to do

Book a fall session

Last but not least book a fall session for a Fun Fall Activities! What is the best way to capture fall, than to book a session with a local photographer? There are so many unique styles doing fall sessions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to book with me or need suggestions on others. I’ve noticed this year that many friend groups are doing fall sessions together as well as family session too. If you want to inquire please send me an email!

That’s my list of some fall activities for you to do this fall. I do intend on doing one for Halloween and Spooky to do later this month! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and get that fall wardrobe ready for the autumn season!
